ZIYI YIN was born and raised in Kunming China ,Yunnan province, which refers to 'the hidden paradise of China.' She grew up in a place with diverse Chinese ethnic groups and tribes. These different backgrounds and cultures help to connect her design projects with people’s daily life experience. For her future career, she is preparing to create her own brand which represents her attitude and design goal. Her vision is designing clothing for people of all sizes and gender identities.
In 2012, Ziyi studied journalism and literature at Taiyuan Normal University. In her senior year, She created the blog “The Devil’s Shopping Notes” on the WeChat platform and wrote articles about fashion styling, fashion designers, and the fashion history. Simultaneously, she worked in a private luxury buyer shop. She started to build her fashion style through this experience and worked at Harper’s BAZAAR and IF FASHION. This helped her realize that she needed to learn fashion design comprehensively. So she came to the Academy of Art University to study. In 2018, she attended the school’s annual Fashion Week, and her work appeared in 180, the university’s fashion magazine. In 2020, she participated in the CFDA Geoffrey Beene Scholarship Competition on behalf of the Academy of Art University. In the same year, she received career offers from Urban Outfitters and Coach.
With all her work, exploring the relationship between textures and silhouettes is critical. Ziyi focuses on exceptional fabrics, exquisite details, and precise tailoring, from the street styles to classic styles, to create timeless and exciting garments.
